In the early 20th century, the Marquise Elena Guglielmi introduced the Irish point lace on Isola Maggiore in Lake Trasimeno, inspired by the techniques developed in Irish monasteries at the end of the 19th century in imitation of the ancient Venetian lace.

Thus it was that the small island of Lake Trasimeno suddenly became an international point of reference for lace making.

Our visit will lead us to discover the marvels of this refined artisan production still kept alive by a few lace makers on the island, through art itineraries that will take us inside the Lace Museum and the ancient Romanesque churches, on a journey between Middle Ages and Twentieth Century.

  • Visit duration: about 3 hours
