Ancaelle church, located about 3 km from S. Arcangelo, is a treasure chest, rich in history and art.

The origins of the church are testified by its name, attributable to that process of syncretism in which paganism and Christianity coexisted united by the continuity of the sacred. The church once owned by the Benedictines (linked to the ancient Monastery of S. Arcangelo), passed in 1471 to the Collegio della Sapienza of Perugia (University of Perugia), of which it is possible to see the symbol carved in stone as well as the symbol of the municipality of Perugia to seal the bond that binds this church to the city of Perugia and to Lake Trasimeno.

Over the centuries this church suffered considerable damage caused by floods due to the increase in the waters of the lake, but it still remains today a treasure chest, a precious historical and artistic testimony.

On the shores of the lake, one cannot help but discover the stories of those who have handed down the secrets and skills of marsh reed processing over time, this precious natural material which has been used wisely since ancient times by the inhabitants of the place.
